AP Mid-Day Meal Jagananna Gorumudda Scheme 2020
The government of Andhra Pradesh had already implemented the Mid-Day Meal Scheme for the students, which are studying in the government schools. The primary objective of the scheme was to offer nutritious food to the students, hailing from financial weak families. The scheme also helped in increasing the attendance of students in the educational institutes. It also reduced the school drop-out percentage in the state.
On the 21st January, 2020, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy came out with another announcement. His government has decided that the Mid-Day Meal Scheme will be improved. Additionally, the former scheme will not be re-launched as the Jagananna Gorumudda Scheme.
The Chief Minister also pointed out the menu that will be offered to the school going kids. To avoid monotony, the mid-day meal menu will be changed every day. On Mondays, the students will be offered rice, chickpea preparation and egg curry. The menu for Tuesdays will be boiled eggs, tomato dal and Puliohara.
The menu for Wednesday will include aloo kurma, vegetable rice, chickpea preparation and boiled egg. The school students will enjoy a meal that includes boiled egg, khichdi, and tomato chutney on Thursdays.
Rice, Chickpea preparation, asparagus, and boiled eggs will be served to the students on Fridays. Finally, the pupils will get sweet Pongal, Rice, and sambar on Saturday.
The menu has been carefully prepared to ensure that the growing students acquire the necessary nourishment. Proper nutrition will assist the mental and physical growth of these students. The new menu-related details will be sent to the schools and the organizations, which are in charge of preparing and distributing the mid-day meals.
Apart from this, the Chief Minister also stated that the state government has decided to increase the salary of the people who prepare and distribute the mid-day meals at the schools. The increased remuneration will encourage them to put in more effort. The Chief Minister has instructed the organizations to use the best quality ingredients for preparing the meals. It will prevent the chances of any compromise with the food value.
The Chief Minister has also made some changes to make the mid-day meal payment process easy. From here on, it will be the responsibility of the respective District Educational Officers to collect and scrutinize the mid-day meal bills. If everything is in order, the bills must be sent to Andhra Pradesh Treasury Office directly. This task must be completed before the 5th of each month. The bill for the previous month will be settled by the state treasury officers by the end of the 10th day of every month. Steps will be taken against any person who fails to do his/her task properly.
