Assam Government Launces Two Educational Scholarship Scheme 2020 – Gyan Deepika Scholarship Scheme | Hindustan Paper Corporation (HPC) Scholarship Scheme
Each state government in India is gearing up for the announcement of the state budget for the current financial year. The government in Assam has launched several social and financial welfare schemes for the betterment of the people. The Chief Minister is stressing on the development of the educational sector. Thus, the authority has developed various scholarship schemes for the needy students in Assam.
About the scholarship schemes
During the Assam Budget of 2019 – 2020, the Finance Minister of the state has launched two separate grants for the students. The Gyan Deepika Scholarship will offer financial assistance to the students who have opted for the hostel facilities. The second scheme, HPC Scholarship will provide monetary assistance to the pupils, whose parents are associated with the Hindustan Paper Corporation. The schemes have been developed as per the instructions of the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The Assam Finance Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma officially announced these two scholarship schemes. The announcement of these schemes was done when the state Finance Minister was attending a program at Guwahati.
Gyan Deepika Scholarship Scheme
As mentioned, this scheme will offer financial aid to the needy students, which are currently pursuing higher education in the college and universities, and have opted for the hostel facility. The state finance minister pointed out that the implementation of this grant project will assist around 13414 beneficiaries. He also mentioned that only those candidates can apply for the grant, which are studying in the colleges and universities, which are run by the central and state governments. Each beneficiary will be given a sum of Rs. 700. The scholarship will be awarded on a monthly basis. Every beneficiary will acquire this perks for ten months. The money will be deposited in the bank account of the respective beneficiary.
Hindustan Paper Corporation (HPC) Scholarship Scheme
It is popularly known as the HPC Scholarship Scheme. If the parents of eligible students are currently working in either the Jagi Road or Pachgram factories of Hindustan Paper Corporation, then such students will receive the grant. The state government has mentioned that every beneficiary will be awarded Rs. 1 lakh. It is a one-time payment. The financial assistance will enable the beneficiary to pursue his/her higher education dreams, without worrying about monetary constraints.
The Chief Minister of Assam has also said that the government will take the necessary measures to ensure that students get the necessary educational facilities. Boosting the educational sector with welfare scheme enables the state government to increase the overall literacy rate. It also impacts the state financial department.
