Maharashtra Farm Loan Waiver Scheme to rollout February 22 [Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Shetkari Loan Waiver (Karj Mukti) Scheme] 2020

Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra chief minister, has come up with the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule farm loan waiver scheme that is due to be implemented on Feb 22. As of now, the state government has come up with 88 percent of farmers who are eligible to avail of the scheme benefits. It has been announced in last December with an upper limit of rupees 2 lakhs as per official sources. The farmers eligible for the scheme belong to districts like Akola, Buldhana, Jalna, Nashik, Parbhani, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Raigad. The number of eligible candidates from the above said districts had crossed one lakh.

Further sources added that data of 32, 16,278 farmers have been updated, and most of them have been linked with Aadhaar card. From 11th February, the machinery that will work under the scheme will be scrutinized. Again, from 21st February, the appropriate list of beneficiary farmers will come up on the official portal related to the scheme. Following this, the farmers will be assisted by the designated government officials. Also, the employees can talk with farmers as has been stated by state CM Thackeray. 

The CM of the state has discussed with collectors, bank officials and divisional commissioners to made suitable preparation to offer help to the poor farmers of the state. Even the stakeholders will also help to provide assistance to the farmers.

CMO has said in regard to successful implementation of the scheme that the administration has been successful to implement the scheme in just 35 days. However, without appropriate initiative of the scheme, it would have taken almost six months to implement it. This is one of the biggest loan waiver schemes that shall help to improve the financial condition of the farmers of the state. The higher authority has instructed for the successful implementation such that farmers do not have any complaint against the scheme benefits.
