Recently the state government of Gujarat has come up with a scheme called Mukhyamantri Kisan Sahay Yojana. The state government has launched this in August, 2020, and it is a scheme that will help the farmers of Gujarat. Key features of the scheme
Objective-
The scheme will not only provide financial aid but also provide crop insurance during adverse climatic condition to the needy farmers of Gujarat.
Amount of financial aid-
As per the rule of the scheme, the beneficiaries will receive 25,000 rupees per hectare.
Benefitted people–
according to the survey, there are 56 lakh farmers who can be the beneficiary of the scheme to get benefitted from the government.
No premium insurance-
The scheme says that no beneficiary has to deposit any premium to get the crop insurance from the state government.
Financial aid on loss-
As per the rule of the scheme on 60% of loss in farming will be covered by the government by providing financial aid.
Compensation on fund-
As per the rule of the scheme the scheme will contribute some amount to the State Disaster Response Fund to help the farmers to fight with natural calamity.
Gujarat Kisan Sahay Yojana – Financial Assistance
Assistance in draught season-
The scheme says that if there is no rainfall for consecutive 28 days during the monsoon season then the scheme will provide financial assistance to the affected farmers. There is a scale to measure the damage and that is up until 31st August if there is rainfall that is less than 10 inches then the area will be considered as affected.
Assistance in heavy rainfall-
The scheme will also help the farmers if their crops get damaged due to heavy rainfall. If the rain continues for 48 hours at a stretch then area will be called as affected. There is a scale to decide the damage and that is 25 inches or more rainfall in an area will be called damaging. Mostly the southern part of Gujarat including Surat, Navsari, Bharuch, Narmada, Valsad, Tapi, and Dang suffer from such phenomenon.
Assistance in irregular rainfall-
The scheme will also provide assistance for the damage caused by unseasonal rainfall. If the rainfall happens from 15th October to 15th November then there is a high chance that crops will be damaged. If the rainfall happens more consecutive 48 hours and that surpasses 50mm then government will consider the incident damaging to the farmers.
Coverage and Premium Amount
When it comes to the coverage and premium of the scheme, the government has divided the damage. So, for 33% to 60% loss will be compensated by providing 20,000 rupees per hectare. For 60% or more loss will be compensated by providing 25000 rupees per hectare. However, the compensation will be given for maximum of 4 hectares. Along with that, for natural calamities there will be more financial assistance will be given to the beneficiaries.
Eligibility criteria
Resident of the state-
To apply for the scheme you need to be the permanent domicile of the state.
Recognized farmers–
You also need to be an 8-A holder that is authorized by Forest Right Act.
Documents required
Residential proof-
In order to apply for the scheme, you need to have the proof that will say that you are the domicile of the state.
Identity proof–
For applying, you need to submit a copy of your identity proof.
Farmers’ account information–
In order to apply, you need to submit the copy of 8-A account details.
Bank account–
As per the rule of the scheme, the money will be given to the beneficiary’s account directly and that is the reason you need to provide all the details regarding your bank account.
How to Check name in Beneficiary list
The followings steps will be taken by the authority to prepare a beneficiary list.
- Step 1– In the first step the district collector will prepare a list of talukas as per the damage caused by adverse weather condition.
- Step 2- As per the list, the Revenue Department will give the compensation money to the talukas.
- Step 3- A special survey team will be formed to inspect the affected areas in 15 days to estimate the damage.
- Step 4- Once the survey is done the District Development Officer will announce the name of the farmers and the final beneficiary list is prepared.
- Step 5- The authority will prepare two types of lists- one list will be for 33% to 60% of losses and the other will be for more than 60% of losses.
How to apply for Mukhyamantri Kisan Sahay Yojana?
The application mode is kept online but, as it is a newly launched scheme so no portal is launched yet. For now, you can visit the nearest e-gram center with all the documents.
The scheme will be able to help the farmers to overcome their crisis situation. The natural calamities and adverse weather damage the crops and farm land every year. The poor farmers do not have to face the financial crisis anymore if they become beneficiary of the scheme. Soon the scheme will be implemented in the Kharif season this year.
