The Punjab government has initiated the online application for Bhai Ghanhya Sehat Sewa Scheme and beneficiaries have to visit bgssstrust.com. It is a self-contributory health insurance scheme that came into being in 2006. Through this, the beneficiaries can opt for cashless treatment up to coverage of rupees 2 lakhs for every family. This is only available in the empanelled hospitals of Chandigarh and Punjab. So, now the beneficiaries can visit the online portal for filling up the form, hospital list, card status and other contact details pertaining to the scheme.
Moreover, members of cooperative society such as bank account holders, farmer families, employees of different departments of the state can get the scheme benefits. As an official launch of the scheme, Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has provided 11 beneficiaries with health cards.
However, for the successful implementation of the scheme, the state government is getting assistance from MD India Health Insurance TPA Limited, New India Assurance Company Ltd. It is further known that almost 3 lakhs beneficiaries have availed the benefits of the scheme.
Details of online application of the scheme
Through the launch of the Punjab BhaiGhanhyaSehatSewa Scheme, the state government is planning to offer easy health facilities to the farmers and other backward sections of the society. For this, the interested candidates can download relevant application forms from the official portal of the scheme. For this, they have to follow some simple steps.

- Upon visiting the site, the enrolment form will show up on the screen.
The candidates can download the digital version of the form, fill it up and submit it to the concerned authority to avail the scheme benefits. As of now, a total of 1.42 lakhs of families have submitted application forms. Facilities are available due to which the candidates can submit the form at nearest cooperative institutions.
How to check card status under the scheme?
To check card status or the list of hospitals empanelled in the scheme, one has to through the official portal of the scheme.
On this site, the candidates need to click on the ‘Request ID’ and then click on the search option. This shall show the status card that is available online. Different premium amounts have been set for different members of the family. The head of the family will get rupees 2714 including GST, dependents will get rupees 679. The amount for the cashless treatment is up to rupees 2 lakhs.
To get cashless treatment, the candidates have to visit the empaneled hospitals that are non-government ones. In addition, the government will give rupees 2100 on the birth of a girl child. Even free health insurance benefits will be given to newborns up to 6 months. Therefore, the beneficiaries should get the e-cards to get access to the scheme benefits through the hospitals.
