SAIL SERVICE Scheme Portal to Promote Voluntary Philanthropist Acitivities (VPA)
Steel Authority of India Limited or SAIL is one of the most reputed Public Sector Undertakings. It has paved the path for the development of iron and steel industries in the country. Each year, it generates massive revenue for the central government as well. SAIL has also actively taken part in social causes. The latest initiative involves the launch of the SAIL SERVICE Portal. Under the AIL Employee Rendering Voluntarism and Initiatives for Community Engagement Scheme, the organization will encourage the employees to contribute towards the betterment of the society.
The launch of this unique portal has been done to arrange and organize the philanthropic activities. Apart from the employees of SAIL, people, associated with other Public Sector Undertakings will be able to join these activities.
The official launch of the SAIL SERVICE Scheme website was activated on the 24th of January 2020. The event was scheduled to coincide with the date when the central government established the Public Sector Undertaking department.
Details about the portal
Though the activation of the SAIL SERVICE Scheme Portal was done on the 24th of this month, the website was officially launched on 22nd January 2020. Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel, was present during the event. The scheme is a voluntary project. Those who wish to contribute towards philanthropic activities can register on this portal.
It was highlighted that projects, which target the development of health care, education, women empowerment, proper nutrition for the people, job development, betterment of the environment, and sustaining financial growth will be included under this scheme.
The employees of SAIL and other PSU offices will be able to log in on the portal. They can gather details of the social welfare projects, which are going on. They can pick one or more projects, as per their preference. After this, they can make financial contributions towards the welfare programs.
A K Chaudhary, the present Chairman of SAIL pointed out that the portal and the scheme will enable the employees to play a vital part in the overall development of the society. The philanthropic efforts can assist them to fulfill their responsibilities towards the society. It, in turn, ensures a solid foundation for the growth and prosperity of the nation. President Ramnath Kovind has commended this initiative.
The Chairman of SAIL has high expectations with this scheme. He pointed out that there are around 60,000 contractual workers in the PSU. Additionally, 70,000 permanent employees are associated with this department. The voluntary participation of these people will help to develop the backward areas.
The SAIL employees will form groups and take up various social welfare projects. They will form strategies and implement them to acquire the desires goals.
