Official Launch of Jagananna Vasathi (Vasati) Deevena Scheme in Andhra Pradesh 2020
The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has already announced that the state government will launch schemes, which will benefit the candidates, pursuing higher education. Several welfare schemes, which offer educational assistance projects to the students, have been implemented in the past. However, the Chief Minister feels that more attention is necessary for the development of the academic sector in the region. In this regards, the announcement of the Jagananna Vasathi Deevena Scheme was made in the state budget.
The Chief Minister had announced the features of the scheme in late 2019. On the 24th of February, 2020, the Andhra Pradesh authority will officially launch this project. The Chief Minister will address a meeting on Monday at Vizianagaram district. The official launch of this scheme will be done on this day.
The implementation of the scheme has been targeted towards the betterment of the students, who are current pursuing polytechnic courses, post-graduation and ITI courses. The scheme will allow the participation of the poor students. With the implementation of this project, the state government will provide these candidates the financial assistance that will enable them to complete the courses.
The financial assistance, promised under the scheme will be deposited in the bank account of the student’s mother or guardian. The Andhra Pradesh Education Department has highlighted that a whopping budget of Rs. 2300 crore has already been sanctioned by the Andhra Pradesh Finance Ministry.
If the applicant is pursuing a post-graduation course, then he/she will obtain an annual grant of Rs. 20,000. If the student is pursuing a polytechnic program, then he/she will receive a yearly scholarship of Rs. 15,000. The students, who have taken admission in the ITI colleges, will be entitled to obtain Rs. 10,000 on an annual basis. The grant will be offered to the beneficiaries till the completion of the academic course.
The grant amount will be deposited in two installments in the bank account, via Direct Benefit Transfer mode. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister had highlighted that the first installment will be provided in the month of February every year. The second grant installment will be sanctioned in the name of the beneficiaries in the month of July.
The Chief Minister also stated that the registration process is offline that will pave the path for the convenience of the applicants. It will be the responsibility of the volunteers, in charge of the villages and wards, to gather data via door-to-door survey. The application documents will be scrutinized, and the final selection of the beneficiaries will be done.
It has been highlighted in the official reports that the implementation of this academic scheme will offer the educational grant to as many as 11,87,904 beneficiaries. In case any eligible applicant is not selected, the documents will be rechecked after the publication of the beneficiary list, during the first phase. The state government has already started the distribution of the JVD scheme cards to the eligible applicants.
The scheme pass contains the details of the beneficiary, embedded in the electronic bar code. The officials will be able to gather the details of the applicant, and the grant amount that he/she is entitled to receive by scanning the bar code. State reports detect that the maximum number of polytechnic, ITI and PG applicants come from East Godavari, Krishna, and Chittoor districts respectively.
The identification of the districts, which lag behind will be given more attention. The aim will be to create such conducive conditions, which can increase the overall number of students, pursuing higher education.
The state government is hopeful that the implementation of this scheme will encourage meritorious candidates to pursue their dreams of higher education. Apart from this, the welfare project will assist Andhra Pradesh government in lowering the percentage of candidate who drops out of the academic structure due to monetary constraints. Adequate academic opportunities will ensure better career, thus, the overall financial status of the state will also improve.
